Structural Engineer

SSM is seeking a highly motivated, performance driven, team-oriented Structural Engineer to assist our clients in the industrial, healthcare, higher education, research, and municipal markets. 

In this role you will:

  • Assist with the structural design of buildings and other structures

  • Perform steel and concrete design using AutoCAD and structural programs

  • Perform structural design calculations for steel, concrete and masonry structures

  • Coordinate structural design with project requirements

  • Design of concrete and steel members such as slabs, footings, columns and beams

  • Develop structural details

  • Conduct field inspection of facilities and other related structures as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned by managers and senior engineers

  • Perform calculations and prepare drawings, designs, documents and plans, using AutoCAD, Revit and other design software 

  • Analyze equipment loading for existing buildings, civil, construction and industrial projects

  • Follow design codes and standards, such as IBC, ASCE7, AISC, ACI, NDS

  • Perform other duties as assigned by managers and senior engineers   

Qualifications for this role include:

  • BS or MS in Structural, Civil or Architectural Engineering with concentration in Structures

  • EIT or PE

  • At least three to five years of structural engineering experience

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and other structural design programs

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Structural design and analysis experience with steel, concrete, wood, aluminum and masonry

  • Strong math and analytical skills

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in the field a plus




Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated, performance driven, team oriented Mechanical/HVAC Engineer with 5-7 years of experience in the design of HVAC, process piping and plumbing systems in industrial, commercial, and R&D type facilities. Responsibilities include the mechanical design of HVAC and other building systems for higher education, healthcare, data center and industrial projects.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to a variety of HVAC, plumbing, process piping and fire protection and data/telecommunication system design projects.

  • Work with multi-discipline staff in designing and implementing mechanical systems in new or existing buildings.

  • Directly interface with clients, vendors, contractors and associates of SSM.

  • Perform mechanical design calculations and standard computations, such as building heating and cooling.

  • Follow building design and energy codes and standards.

  • Survey mechanical systems, equipment and building conditions.

  • Specify equipment requirements.

  • Prepare technical reports and specifications.


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

  • Five plus years of experience

  • PE preferred
