Mark Smith Appointed to the Cleanup Standards Scientific Advisory Board
Mark Smith, PG was appointed to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Cleanup Standards Scientific Advisory Board.
The Cleanup Standards Scientific Advisory Board consists of 13 members for the purpose of assisting the Department and the Environmental Quality Board in developing Statewide health standards, determining the appropriate statistically and scientifically valid procedures to be used, determining the appropriate risk factors and providing other technical and scientific advice as needed to implement the provisions of this act. The Cleanup Standards Scientific Advisory Board assists DEP in developing cleanup standards and identifying appropriate statistical and scientific procedures.
Smith is a Geologist in the GeoEnvironmental division. He holds a BS, Geology and Earth Science from Clarion University of PA and MS, GeoEnvironmental Studies from Shippensburg University of PA. He is responsible for managing environmental projects ranging from simple site assessments to large scale soil and groundwater remediation projects on Brownfield redevelopment projects. He is responsible for the preparation of Site Characterization Reports, Remedial Action Completion Reports, Act 2 Final Reports Tank Closure Reports, and Phase I and II Environmental Assessments.
