Cutting-Edge Survey Technology

High-Definition Laser Scanning
The latest in surveying technology

SSM is using high-definition scanning for campus master planning, historic building preservation, and industrial complexes.H igh-definition laser scanning is a non-instrusive method to obtain three dimensional geometry measurements and models of existing structures and sites for both large and small-scale projects.

Applications | Laser Scanning
• Quickly map and model large, complex sites and structures and visually show modifications
• Unprecedented level of detail and accuracy
• Accurate measurements of areas too dangerous or difficult for traditional access
• Acquires as-built information inside and outside of any structure quickly and efficiently
• Used under any lighting conditions
• Allows for “virtual” revisit of the same site or structure
• Overlays of digital photos can be added for realism
• Stores and manages data more effectively
• Enables long-term facilities management

Key Projects | Laser Scanning Technology
St. Paul's UCC, Birdsboro PA
SSM provided high-definition surveying services in order to layout and design handicapped ramps along the church building. The required level of detail was due to changes in the façade and different floor elevations for access, not to mention sidewalk details, and existing window wells in the area of construction.

St. Lawrence Borough, Berks County PA
SSM performed high-definition surveying services to verify that design grades and proposed wall elevations were met by the contractor. Scanning was the only option because the slopes were newly seeded and access was not allowed.

GAF Premium Products, Wind Gap PA
SSM provided high-definition surveying services of the existing boiler room to help with design modifications and equipment replacement drawings. Scanning captured the entire room, wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling, along with digital photos captured during the scans; return visits were not required.
